Jan's the man.
We got to finally meet Eoin today! I am very glad that we got to hear how Startup Ireland works and his vision straight from his mouth today and because of this I got to observe a lot today. We got the opportunity to interview Eoin and he said something that stood out to me. I have heard this quote before but it is interfering with an entrepreneurs perspective, he said he does not want to "live to work, but rather work to live." This is such a struggle for entrepreneurs and really even most people in any jobs. I want to be successful and accomplish great things in my career, but ultimately I want to leave a legacy with my family and invest my time developing them. I guess my key take away from today is to set my priorities out and reanalyze them constantly to make sure I stay on track with my values in life. Libraries are wardrobes of literature. -George Dyer We went in to see the Book of Kells and the Library today. It was gorgeous! But for today I wanted to reflect on a book we had to read for this course that was written by our professor. In chapter 6 of his book he writes about leadership and says, "Learning to lead boils down to focusing your time and managing how you respond to your environment. Your passion about a given undertaking and your attitude towards the people you lead must match your rhetoric." This is one of the many parts that stood out to me in the fact that responding to he changing environment is an important aspect of leadership. I want to become a better leader in some areas of my life and this is such a good take away in the ever changing environments of my life. Some people would think that having a good attitude is just an aspect of being a better person, but the fact that it is such a needed aspect of being a good leader stood out to me. I hope to reflect on this in the future consistently. Try not to become a man of success, rather become a man of value. -Albert Einstein The Teeling distillery was very cool to be able to see in construction! Not just from a personal perspective, but a business perspective was very special to see a business going through the building and design process. I definitely took mental notes for the unique touches that they used for the layout of their upstairs space. |
